BEE status
Moore Stephens is aware of the need and importance of broad based Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) in South Africa and have formulated a plan that should meet future BEE requirements. A BEE transformation charter applicable to the accounting and auditing professional services sector is in the process of being formulated but has to date not been adopted. Our plan has been prepared with reference to existing initiatives within government and the private sectors aimed at achieving broad-based black economic empowerment. It also takes account of the existing realities within the profession. Our aim is to identify black CA(SA)‘s from within our ranks to become partners during this phase. Thus far we have:
Identified potential candidates from within our own firm to fast-track to the levels of management and ultimately to become partners.
Held various discussions with black-owned audit firms regarding either a potential merger or sharing of resources. These discussions are on-going.
Mandated several BEE employment agencies to locate black CA (SA)‘s for employment into senior management with a view to becoming partners.
In line with the Government’s Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act (PPPFA) we have begun the process of identifying all suppliers of goods and services to our business, with the aim of advancing persons disadvantaged previously by unfair discrimination.
Our employment policies are designed to provide opportunities to previously disadvantaged individuals. To compliment the employment strategy, we offer a university bursary scheme to financially assist students to further their education.
